airport signTurkey is a lovely country, spreading over two continents. The cheapest and easiest way to reach it is by plane. A lot of airlines serve Turkey, connecting the country to every corner of the world.

Airports and Airlines

The most important and busiest Turkish airport is Ataturk Airport (IST) in Istanbul. Then travelers can catch a domestic flight to one of the other airports: Ankara, Adana, Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Izmir and Trabzon.

The airlines serving Turkey include: BA, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa and Austrian.

Also, during the summer a lot of charter flights are available from different European cities. Low cost carriers also serve Turkey.

Tips to get a cheap ticket to Turkey

Airfare to Turkey is cheap, especially if you choose a low-cost carrier. Flying from a European city into Turkey is very cheap while flying from US is quite affordable as well.

Here are some tips to find cheap airfare to Turkey:

  • Find which airlines use Turkish airports as hubs. Fares are lower and discounts are more frequent if the airline flies frequent flights from and to the airport.
  • Fly during mid-week: Tuesday to Thursday. Generally the weekends are filled by the travelers who have few vacation days, while Mondays are crowded because of the business travelers.
  • Spring and autumn are really good seasons to visit Turkey. Weather is great for visiting and even going to the beaches, while the prices are low. Plus you are more likely to get vacation days now if you work full time.
  • Check all the low-cost flights. Some carriers might fly into a smaller town close to a resort and the price is lower than if you flow into Istanbul and then catch a domestic flight to your destination.
